Leadership & governance

Who decides what.

A trading group is only as good as its controls. This is how responsibility is divided, and what has to happen before a cargo moves.

Structure

Five functions, one desk

Bellwether runs flat. Origination, supply, operations, downstream and control sit close enough to each other that a question is answered the same day.

01

Trading & origination

Owns pricing, position and counterparty relationships across crude, refined products, gas and the commodities desk. Sits in Dubai.

02

Oilfield supply & procurement

Runs the manufacturer base behind capital goods, drilling chemicals, cement and structural steel, and the 10,000+ SKU product database.

03

Operations & logistics

Vessel and cargo scheduling, inspection, documentation and delivery into 43 countries, including inland West African distribution.

04

Downstream, MEA Energy Trading

The group's West African downstream arm, operating out of Lagos and serving 16 nations.

05

Finance, credit & compliance

Trade finance structures, credit limits, sanctions and KYC screening, and approval of new counterparties before a trade is booked.

02

Controls

What happens before a trade is booked

  1. 01

Counterparty screened for sanctions and beneficial ownership before any offer is issued.

  2. 02

Credit exposure sized and approved against the structure: prepayment, letter of credit or open account.

  3. 03

Specification, inspection regime and loading terms agreed in writing before nomination.

  4. 04

Delivery, documentation and payment reconciled against the contract by operations, not by the trader.
