Wholly owned subsidiary
MEA Energy Trading
Bellwether sources the cargo. MEA moves it from the West African coast to the depot, the station and the customer, across 16 nations.
The relationship
Why we own the downstream
Most traders sell the cargo at the port and walk away. In West Africa, that is where the margin and the risk actually begin.
Demand growth across the region is structural, but the constraint is rarely supply. It is storage, haulage, credit and last-mile reliability. Owning the distribution arm rather than appointing a third-party offtaker means Bellwether controls product quality on discharge, controls the inland schedule, and captures the full margin from refinery gate to forecourt.
MEA Energy Trading is a wholly owned Nigerian subsidiary of Bellwether International. It operates under its own brand and its own site at mea-energy.com, with the group providing cargo origination, hedging and trade finance.
